A visit to the Inoue family was the perfect start to my week. Marie, Akito and I enjoyed talking into the night while Marie prepared fresh mint tea, reminding me of my childhood memories back in Indiana. Every cup made me feel a little more at home in this strange and beautiful country.
If you'd like to experience that same childhood memory with a cup of fresh mint tea, here's the recipe:
5-8 medium sprigs of fresh mint
4 cups of boiling water
1 T. sugar
Rinse the mint in cold water. Boil the water. Place mint sprigs into a teapot and pour in boiling water. Add sugar. Let sugar dissolve and allow the tea to steep for 5 minutes or until desired taste.
