*to serve others …
Col 3:23 reminds us “whatsoever ye do, do
it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men”. Rom 12:1 tells us to “present your bodies a living sacrifice”.
Bro. Earl Ringger told us in a sermon many years ago, don’t worry about
tomorrow, just be a living sacrifice today! God will give us grace to serve,
one moment at a time. In today’s world we’re told, “we should be served, we
deserve a break today, treat yourself….” The Bible tells us in Phil 2:3 “let each esteem other better than
themselves.” This doesn’t mean to have poor self-esteem, but proper
perspective. When we look for opportunities to serve, we are able to link ourselves
with Christ, who was the ultimate example of a humble servant. The goal of
serving…pointing others to Jesus; doing it “as to the Lord and not unto man.” !
II Cor. 1:4 gives the assurance that Jesus will comfort us in our tribulations
and desires that we will comfort others (pass it forward) in theirs.
